Commemorative speech- Wright Brothers

Wright Brothers, Wilbur Wright, and Orville Wright, they invented the most important transportation- airplane for our efficient life. Without their invention, we have to spend much more time to get to another country. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to arrive in America in about one day. Without them, we won’t be able to save so much time. Today is the 110th anniversary of their first flight. Let me tell you the story from the beginning.
Since Wright brothers were young, they were curious about everything related to machinery. They helped their neighbors to solve the problem of sewing machine, fix the bicycle, etc. Despite that, they were also good at constructing wooden boards and wheels to make it useful. The two brothers loved to work together, creating new toys for the children in the town and also for themselves.
One day, Wilbur read an article from the newspaper. The article was mainly about a German called Otto Lilienthal who created the glider. The news interested both Wilbur and Orville. Flying to the sky is also their dream, they had been wanting to be like him. Wilbur said to Orville, he had sent a letter to professor Langley, who is a famous scientist in America, asking for some information and technical help. They also observed how the birds fly and wrote down some formulas on floating power. They revised their model again and again to make it better.
The two brothers were not the first one who wanted to fly. Some people invented the glider and the plane, but none of them succeeded. Wright Brothers also learned something from them. They kept trying and trying. Since they had been through uncountable failures, referred to others’ experience, finally, they build their own plane. They tried again and again, and had longer flight than before. The more they challenged, the more experiences they had.
If there were no Wright Brothers, there wouldn’t have been frequent contact with other country. Without them, we have to spend several months to go to another continent at sea. Without them, it will take much more time to send mail from this country to another. Nowadays, airplanes have become the most important transportation while we go abroad. We really cannot think of the lives of the international businessmen, if there were no airplanes. In fact, we cannot say the two brothers are the first ones to have the dream of flying, but they really are the pioneers of making our dream come true. Because of their continuous experiments to make the globe become smaller, we can get to somewhere distant easily. Each one of us should appreciate their contribution, the two brothers that made our life much easier--Wright Brothers.
